Wendy Mahr Artist Statement
The Marine Stadium holds great memories for me and my friends. We went to see Jimmy Buffet, arrived by boat, and watched the concert from the water. My college friends and I went to the Y100 concerts and saw Gloria Estefan when she was the latest thing! Aclassical concert at the stadium was one of the most beautiful events I’ve ever been to.
I decorated my chair as an ode to the 80’s because that was the decade of Marine Stadium to me.
I used a combination of gold paint, sequins, pearls, 80’s jewelry and dancing shoes to convey the feeling.
