Alex Nunez Artist Statement
I was born and raised in Miami, FL. I am a mixed media artist at Fountainhead Studios in Little Haiti.Miami Rowing Club introduced me to a new sense of teamwork and early morning routines.We used to run up and down the stairs at Marine Stadium Park and I would imagine what these seats looked like in their heyday.This particular design envisioned an underwater audience. The paillettes act as scales, as if the chair is transforming before our eyes.
The line work on the lower section shows a human to aquatic animal metamorphosis, ideal for sea level rising and adapting to the surrounding environment.
