Brigitte Andrade Artist, Publisher and Writer
I graduated from New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology and launched my professional career in 1981 as an agent and Managing Director of Beauty Bookings, an agency representing the best of Makeup, Hair and Photography in New York City. I later branched out on my own with “Brigitte, Inc.” managing many international and local artists, specifically focused on beauty, photography, art & fashion.
In 1999 I created The Adventures of Bibi & Friends, a graphic novel series, based on a fictional character named ‘Bibi’, that has become a cult classic and living history of Miami Beach, from its blooming renaissance in the 1990’s through today. I received a Key to the City of Miami Beach, as well as a proclamation declaring November 16th, The Adventures of Bibi & Friends Day, The books are so well respected, I created a Miami Beach centennial illustrated comic book in partnership with The City of Miami Beach & the GMCVB, that tells the 100 year history of Miami Beach in a truly innovative and fun way. All of this lead to a series of art showings at the Art Basel booth of the GMCVB, The Art Deco Museum, The MB Chamber of Commerce, The LGBQT Visitor Center and “Bibi’s Journey in Time”, a curated art show at the Sagamore Hotel Miami Beach from March – October 2018. I also have an art website ARTDECEMBERMIAMI which is dedicated to Art Basel season and we are celebrating our 11th year promoting everything artistic in Miami & Miami Beach. Currently I am working on the life story of legendary Soul Man Sam Moore and the historic entertainment story of Overtown Miami. The book release is December 2018, but we already produced an art show based on this work for Art Basel 2017 at The Betsy Hotel Miami Beach, which lead to an exhibit with the History Miami Museum for Black History Month 2018.
The Adventures of Bibi & Friends celebrates its 20th Anniversary in 2019 and The MARINE STADIUM CHAIR is a tribute to my comic book character ‘Bibi’. I would like to thank my collaborators on this project, Nestor Paz & David Sexton from Painting With A Twist Miami Beach, and Frank Welde of Welde World for helping to sand and prep the chair!
